Updating: Ancient Stewardship in European Forests (ASEF) Research Group

Welcome to homepage of the ASEF research group. ASEF is a transdisciplinary partnership that investigates human factors in the development of forests in Central Europe since the last Ice Age. Our research projects trace ancient management practices and examine why these matter for environmental choices in forest management today.

We are a team of archaeologists, palaeoecologists, and environmental geneticists, and our primary field research is based in the unique sandstone landscapes of Kokořínsko and Cesky Raj in Northern Czech Republic. You can use this site to connect with us and learn about ongoing work.
